How fast does mold grow after water damage?
Per EPA-aligned guidance, mold can begin growing on wet materials within 24 to 48 hours of water exposure. That window is why drying speed decides so much: materials dried inside it can often be saved, and past it remediation frequently becomes part of the job.
Do I need mold testing, or just remediation?
If you can see mold and you know the water event that caused it, testing often adds cost without changing the plan — the material still comes out. Testing earns its keep when the source is unknown, when someone in the home has health concerns, or when a third party needs verification.
Can I just spray bleach on it?
Surface spraying changes the color, not the problem. Mold grows into porous materials like drywall and pad, and it regrows wherever moisture remains. Remediation means containing the area, removing what cannot be cleaned, cleaning what can, and fixing the moisture that fed it.
Is mold covered by homeowners insurance?
Sometimes, and usually only when it follows a covered sudden water loss and was addressed promptly. Mold from a long-neglected leak is commonly excluded. We will not promise you an outcome — we document the water event, the timeline, and the affected materials for your adjuster.
